Forging Freshman Friendships

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mc. A.O. !!!!

For your birthday enjoyment, a quick trip down memory lane.

You might have heard TRex on the radio….

Nixon was President, the Watergate burglars had just been indicted by a federal grand jury. It was freshman year… 1972.

I had the good fortune to sit beside Mc. A. during the lecture portion of inorganic chemistry (she hadn’t yet married and received her “O”)  Such a nice young woman! She is not pictured here, but this was the only photo I could find of H. the swarthy Greek Guy that made up our three-some. He married, then divorced the girl he’s strangling. Can’t seem to remember the plaid-pants-person. Mc A.O. might be behind the camera? Sure wish I still had that shirt.

As the semester progressed bonds of friendship were forged. Eventually we all graduated, married and scattered across the country.

Mc A.O. and I both married wonderful men, (two wild and crazy guys) to whom we are still married. Almost forty years later we are all great friends, family really, a rare and special gift. Months can go by without communication, yet conversations can pick up exactly where they left off. We “get” each others jokes. We have a shared history.

This picture was taken much later, probably early eighties, but honestly, the woman never changes! She is as beautiful, fit and energetic as the day we met in lecture hall. (Remember Dr. Robert Engel’s two-fisted approach to the blackboard?)

In September, 2012 the gorgeous, athletic daughter of the O’s starts freshman year. May she too have such a blessed and fortunate life, and may she find friends with whom life-long bonds can be forged.

Here’s to another forty memorable years of shared birthdays.

We love you, have a wonderful day.

(Who’s boat was that anyway? An O-Craft or a Z-Craft ???? Too old to remember)

Silver Bells

"Those seals didn't need their fur anyway..."

There is a legend that this hilarious adult version of "Silver Bells" was created by three friends lubricated on wine, goofing off in the recording studio. Billy Joel on piano, Paul Simon singing and Steve Martin spoken word.

A true Christmas Classic.

We know nothing about being lubricated in the recording studio,<<cough>> NOTHING!
